Relaticle vs HubSpot: An Honest Comparison - Relaticle [ Back to blog ](https://relaticle.com/blog)

![Relaticle vs HubSpot: An Honest Comparison](https://relaticle.com/storage/ink/01M17KWTZTX58HNQR895414XWY.png)HubSpot and Relaticle are not direct substitutes. Choose HubSpot if your small team needs a marketing, sales, and service suite, including marketing automation, email sequences, and an official App Marketplace. Choose Relaticle if you need an open-source, self-hostable, AI-native CRM with a flat $24/mo price for unlimited users, or a free self-hosted deployment. HubSpot's free CRM supports up to 2 users, which is a real advantage at the start. The better long-term choice depends on whether you are buying a suite or making an ownership and deployment bet.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HubSpot has a clear advantage when the CRM is only one part of what you need. The brief matters here: HubSpot is a marketing, sales, and service suite, not only a database for companies and people. It also has a genuinely useful free CRM tier for up to 2 users. A small team that wants to begin there can do so without choosing a paid Hub on day one.

Relaticle does not try to match that suite. We do not have an equivalent to HubSpot's marketing automation, email sequences, or official App Marketplace. If those are central to your workflow, buy the suite. Pretending that a CRM with a different scope is a replacement would make the comparison less useful.

Relaticle is a different bet. It is an AGPL-3.0 CRM that you can host yourself, including the CRM core. Chat credit limits still apply. It runs on Laravel + Filament with PostgreSQL, Redis, and a Horizon queue worker. It deploys on a single server, and we document Docker Compose paths for Dokploy and Coolify. That is relevant when the CRM needs to live on infrastructure you operate rather than only in a vendor's SaaS environment.

The practical distinction is ownership. HubSpot is closed-source SaaS and offers no self-hosting. With Relaticle, you can run the application yourself and back up its PostgreSQL database with `pg_dump`. Uploaded files need separate backup coverage. That does not make self-hosting right for every team. It does make the operating model materially different.

For a fuller ownership-focused comparison, see [our HubSpot alternatives guide](https://relaticle.com/alternatives/hubspot). If you are deciding whether self-hosting is a sensible commitment, start with [the self-hosting guide](https://relaticle.com/developers/self-hosting).

[](#the-pricing-change-arrives-with-seats-and-hubs "Permalink")The pricing change arrives with seats and Hubs
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HubSpot's free CRM changes the first comparison. For up to 2 users, it costs nothing. HubSpot costs less initially when its free tier meets the team's requirements. Relaticle's paid hosted plan uses a workspace subscription.

After that, the models diverge. HubSpot lists Starter Customer Platform at $20/seat/month before introductory discounts. Check its [current offer](https://www.hubspot.com/pricing/crm) and renewal terms. Relaticle costs $24/mo flat, or $19/mo billed annually, for unlimited users. Relaticle also sells AI credit packs on top. These are not feature-equivalent offers. The calculation only shows how the seat model and the flat model behave.

For a ten-person team, using HubSpot Starter's standard monthly list price before promotions:

| Option | Calculation | Monthly cost |
|---|--:|--:|
| HubSpot Starter | Ten users × $20/seat/mo, billed monthly | $200/mo |
| Relaticle hosted | Flat price | $24/mo |
| Relaticle hosted, billed annually | Flat price | $19/mo |
| Relaticle self-hosted | Software price | Free |

The table shows the seat model and the flat model at ten users. It does not establish that Relaticle replaces a HubSpot subscription. You should price the suite value separately from the CRM seat count.

This is why we would not describe HubSpot's pricing as simply expensive. A team may need the suite capabilities that Relaticle does not provide. In that case, the right comparison is not $200/mo versus $24/mo. It is HubSpot's suite against the combined tools and work required to replace its missing functions.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

HubSpot offers [Breeze Assistant](https://www.hubspot.com/products/artificial-intelligence/breeze-ai-assistant), including free access. Its [official remote MCP server](https://developers.hubspot.com/ai-tools) connects compatible AI clients to CRM data. Relaticle includes built-in chat and an MCP server in its hosted and self-hosted codebase. Administrators can configure supported cloud providers or local Ollama models for chat.

Relaticle's MCP server covers CRM records, relationships, search, analysis, and uploads. Chat remains credit-metered on self-hosted installations, and available cloud models depend on the workspace plan. Model support and MCP access are separate capabilities: the MCP server exposes tools to the client you connect.

The write model also needs a clear distinction. The in-app chat assistant proposes changes as pending approval cards. A human approves or discards each proposal. MCP tool writes from clients such as Claude Desktop or Claude Code commit directly, with no approval gate. That is not a hidden safety guarantee for every AI route. It is a product behavior teams should understand before connecting a client with write access.

Relaticle supports custom fields across its web app, REST API, MCP server, and AI chat. Supported types include text, number, currency, dates, choices, rich text, and record links. The retired file-upload type cannot be written. Check the [field types guide](https://relaticle.com/help/custom-fields/field-types-you-can-add) when planning a migration.

[](#what-a-small-team-should-choose "Permalink")What a small team should choose
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Choose HubSpot if you need the marketing, sales, and service suite, especially marketing automation, email sequences, and the official App Marketplace. Its free CRM for up to 2 users is a good reason to start there when that shape fits.

Choose Relaticle when its record model, self-hosting option, and flat hosted pricing meet your requirements. The self-hosted CRM core has no software license fee. Chat remains credit-metered. Review [current pricing](https://relaticle.com/pricing) and test the intended model before switching.

Use a representative workflow to compare the products before moving your data. If you choose a new CRM, read our [migration guide](https://relaticle.com/blog/migrating-from-hubspot-or-attio-to-a-self-hosted-crm).
